You’ve most likely seen the videos or pictures on one of your social media accounts. Take a room full of people doing yoga and add…goats. It’s a new trend that started two years ago when a recently divorced woman named Lainey Morse discovered the goats on her Oregon farm helped her fight depression. She started having “Goat Happy Hour” each day and inviting friends to join. Her friends found the soft, gentle animals comforting, and before long a friend who is also a yoga instructor had a great idea. Morse’s first year in the Goat Yoga business brought in more than $160,000. Wildly popular, local organizations such as OASIS tlc are now having Yoga with Goats bring in money to support their causes.
OASIS tlc is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote inclusion and acceptance of autistic individuals into their local communities. By establishing environmentally exemplary farm centers, they provide meaningful work, peaceful and healthy residences, and community interaction.
Interested in joining the fun while helping a great cause? Both Hot and Soul Yoga and Synergy Hot Yoga Studios provide classes on the Red Bank farm a couple days a week for $30 per person plus a small registration fee that goes directly to OASIS tlc. Reservations are required, contact LaurieMOASIS@gmail.com for more information or visit www.oasistlc.org.
