The Visiting Writers Series, which kicked off in October, will conclude with a December 5th presentation by acclaimed performance poet and National Book Award finalist Patricia Smith. at 7:00 p.m. at Brookdale Community College’s Warner Student Life Center in Lincroft.
Author of six esteemed collections including “Shoulda Been Jimi Savannah,” “Teahouse of the Almighty” and “Life According to Motown,” Smith has received the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, the Bobbitt National Prize for Poetry and was a finalist for the William Carlos Williams Award from the Poetry Society of America. Her 2008 poetry collection “Blood Dazzler” was recognized as a finalist for the National Book Award.
Parking is in lots 6 and 7. All programs are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. A suggested donation of $3 can be made to support the Brookdale Creative Writing Club.
