Jessica Lahey, author of New York Times bestselling book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed, will be at Ranney School on Thursday, Oct. 26 to address the Middle and Upper School students as part of the school’s Distinguished Speaker Series. Lahey is a teacher, mother, and author, who writes about education, parenting, and child welfare for The Atlantic, Vermont Public Radio, and the New York Times. Her book, The Gift of Failure, addresses the best way to intrinsically motivate students to learn and develop resilience. Lahey will speak to Upper School students at 11:00 a.m. and Middle School students at 12:20 p.m. Parents interested in attending one of these sessions are encouraged to contact events@ranneyschool.org to inquire about availability. The Distinguished Speaker Series, primarily focused on Upper School students, is made possible by a generous, multi-year commitment made by a Ranney School family. The purpose of the series is to provide students the opportunity to learn about a range of perspectives and experiences from speakers who come to share their stories of accomplishment, defeat, and perseverance.
