WEforum, Monmouth Medical Center, RWJ Barnabas Health, and The SOURCE together bring the next installment the Community Conversation expert panel series, “What The Health: You Are What You Eat, So What Are You Eating?” To be held on November 1, 2017, 7:30 p.m. at the Red Bank Regional High School. Community Conversations are a free public event meant to create an open and honest forum for community members to educate and empower themselves on current critical health issues. This explosive documentary leaves you wondering if anything you eat is safe. Dr. Meg Fisher, MD, Medical Director, Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Monmouth Medical Center will lead the expert panel of Dr. James Proodian, DC, President and Founder of Natural Healthcare Center, Dr. Oscar Coetzee, Ph.D., DCN, Clinical Nutritionist at Natural Healthcare Center, and Marcy T. Ragen, Chef and Owner of Relish Your Chef to address the controversies and offer insights on what you can to gain a healthy balance.The panel will debate the film’s message and offer informative advice on how we can harness the power of proper nutrition for optimal health and prevention of disease. WEforum is a proud partner with The SOURCE at Red Bank Regional High School, a School Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP) designed to help young people navigate their adolescent years, finish their education, obtain skills leading to employment or continuing education, and graduate healthy and drug free. Abby Kelly, Monmouth Medical Center Board Member and Director of Programming for WEfourm, explains the importance of empowering the community to educate themselves on what’s in their food and where it’s coming from, “We have a nutrition crisis in the United States. Many of the foods we have been told our whole lives are healthy for us are now loaded with hormones, additives, preservatives and other ingredients that are killing us. This community conversation is using the widely popular, and controversial documentary “What the Health” as an anchor to discuss these issues with a panel of experts in the health and wellness fields. It is our hope that everyone leaves with practical take home tips and an action plan to feed themselves and their families meals to nourish rather than harm their bodies.”
