Shore House has much to celebrate at its upcoming annual Beacon of Hope fundraiser on Sunday, May 20th at the Rumson Country Club. It is proud to announce that it was recently awarded ‘Accredited Clubhouse’ status by Clubhouse International, the umbrella mental health organization which provides support, training and resources to Clubhouses around the world. Clubhouse International Accreditation is ‘a symbol of quality – a clear demonstration of a Clubhouse’s commitment to excellence’.
Shore House, an organization dedicated to helping people living with a mental illness to regain their lives through education, employment and socialization, successfully demonstrated compliance with 37 standards to achieve accreditation. Adhering to those standards allows them entry into Clubhouse International with access to world renowned research, best practices and resources to serve those living with mental illness. The accreditation assessment team stated, “we know that Shore House will be the first of many Accredited Clubhouses in New Jersey, and we’re excited to watch them be a pioneer for their state.” Most importantly, research has shown that accreditation delivers tangible benefits for Clubhouse members including better transitional employment results, reduced hospital stays and improved overall well being.
“We are more committed than ever to improve the lives of those who live with mental illness and accreditation will give us the added tools to do just that,” said Susan Mazzeo, Executive Director.
Shore House hopes the momentum from their first accreditation experience will help them to reach more people in Monmouth County, and throughout New Jersey. Celebrating this achievement at their 7th annual fundraiser, they are delighted to be honoring community partners Monmouth University and CPC Behavioral Healthcare, as well as their founding board members who have worked so hard to get Shore House to this important milestone. They are also excited to welcome Dr. Ralph Aquila, Medical Director at Fountain House in New York and one of the world’s leading community psychiatrists and mental health advocates, as guest speaker.
